The Hayward La-Honda Music Camp is organized to challenge students in a variety of creative pursuits and is devoted to the development of musicianship for students grades 6-12. This is accomplished through a program of study, concentrated rehearsal, performance, recreation and general camp life.

The camp mission is to inspire young people to achieve their best musically, to enjoy a great social/recreational experience and take home memories that will last a lifetime. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Quest Therapeutic Camps of Southern California is accredited by the American Camp Association, and offers 7 weeks of summer day camps in Huntington Beach for children with mild to moderate difficulties behaviorally, emotionally or socially.

Children who participate in Quest programming often have diagnoses of ADHD, anxiety, Asperger's Disorder, depression, learning disabilities and/or social problems.

2) Group therapy four times per week;

Jodie Knott, Ph.D., camp director and licensed clinical psychologist, coordinates the Quest treatment program. She has created and facilitated therapeutic, experiential learning interventions for children for over 12 years and specializes in the assessment and treatment of attention and learning disorders, in addition to mood disorders.

Quest staff is trained to provide positive intervention to teach new, constructive behaviors. Counselors provide verbal support for accomplishments and directions for areas of improvement. By developing an open and nurturing environment where children feel accepted and respected, campers make positive changes because they feel safe to try new behaviors.

We are very proud at Quest to now have evidence-based research that supports what parents and professionals have seen for over twenty years! During the summer of 2008, 155 families participated in an independent research study by Lisa Greenberg to measure the effectiveness of Quest's therapeutic program. The results demonstrated treatment benefits rarely seen in psychological programs. Quest was found to provide effective individualized treatment for children 6-18 years old with mild to moderate behavioral, emotional and/or social problems.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Levels: There will be four levels at the camp: MathCounts/AMC-8, AMC10/12, AIME, and USAMO.

Curriculum: Each week will be devoted to one of the four main areas. The focus will be on Number Theory and Algebra/Analysis in Period-I and Geometry and Combinatorics in Period-II.

The students will be equipped with necessary background in lectures and trained with different types of problems to master various problem solving techniques. The classes are problem solving-based whose curriculum is aligned with prestigious national and international competitions. They provide a motivational and challenging environment for students.

Lectures are given by A* Faculty and other instructors who have participation and/or training experience in national/international Olympiads such as USA Math Olympiads (USAMO) and the International Math Olympiads (IMO).

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Director Adam Boothe’s passion for running has stayed with him throughout a successful high school and collegiate running career, an NCAA coaching career, post-collegiate coaching, and as a running store owner. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. This week-long sleep-away program is designed to be a fun and transforming experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. YEA Camp New York will have two concurrent sessions! One session for teens with a variety of causes, and for the first time ever, a separate session for teens interested in animal activism (and what better location than a Farm Animal Sanctuary!).

Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues. Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

CAMP FACILITIES: Pool and Lagoon
Our Junior Olympic-size pool affords campers the opportunity to work on and improve swimming skills, soak up the sun, or just play! It’s also the site of one of our biggest color wars competitions of each session, the all-camp Aqua Fest.

The Lagoon is the most popular place in camp on a hot summer day, and many of our late afternoons are spent here as other activities in camp are winding down. Paddle boats & paddle boards, rope swing, high jump, trampoline – there’s so much to do! The lagoon is fed by a babbling brook just waiting to be explored, and which carries native brook and German brown trout, making the lagoon a great fishing spot as well.

Dining Hall
Our lodge style dining hall is the heart of camp and has a truly historic lodge-like feel. Food is served & buffet tables are set up inside at mealtimes, while campers eat under the canopy outside, affording everyone a view of the sprawling meadow and lagoon. Our all-camp dances take place here, and on those rare but wonderful occasions when we get an evening rainstorm, we have someplace dry to gather for some indoor games, too!

Cabins
Each cabin at Mountain Meadow Ranch is unique in style, but every cabin has electricity, wall-to-wall carpeting, and is complete with its own bathroom and shower facilities. Many have a front deck that overlooks the central meadow, a great place to catch up with their cabin mates and enjoy the view. Campers sleep in their own twin-sized cozy wooden bunk beds with bedding or sleeping bags, all clothes and belongings are kept in trunks or luggage that slide under or to the side of their bunks. There are shelves and countertop space in the bathrooms. Laundry service is offered once a week for all campers and staff. It is priority that our cabins be clean, safe and comfortable. Cabin groups are separated according to age and gender.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Serendipity and flexibility are essential to our summer camp activity program – designed to allow each camper the ability to style the program according to what they want to do. Therefore, there is no pre-registration before camp for any of our activities. Campers choose which activity to participate in 2 to 4 times each weekday. We encourage campers to try as many new and different activities as possible, but in the end it’s still their choice.

Weekends are a little different, as they are spent as a whole camp family playing Color Wars. The entire camp participates in these events; however each camper still gets to choose what role they will have in each events.

CAMP FACILITIES: Students in the overnight camps will be housed in university undergraduate housing, eat in undergraduate cafeterias and have access to university recreational facilities. Commuter students are also welcome at the overnight camps.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: An advanced class for high achieving high school students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or related fields, such as pharmacy, nursing, biomedical research or drug development. Through engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory classes, students learn about normal molecular and cellular biology from PhD-level instructors, and then learn how these normal processes are distorted to cause the development of cancer. A similar style is used to teach Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Immunology and Molecular Biology of Development and Aging. To conclude the workshop, students use what they have learned to create an original research project on a gene of their choice. Free time includes planned activities such as sports and field trips.

Camp Directors: Ryan G. Holzer, M.S., PhD - Ryan has 17 years of medical research experience, working on cancer and type 2 diabetes. He has a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Diego and he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Mayo Clinic.

Ha B. Nguyen, PharmD - Ha is a professional pharmacist who also has laboratory experience working on antibacterial immunology. She has a B.S. in Biology from the University of California, San Diego and a PharmD from Midwestern University.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our counselors are required to complete one session as a Counselor In Training before we offer them a position. January: BroadwayCon. This is a trip to New York for the Broadway Convention the last weekend in January where we see 4 broadway shows and have Master Classes with actors currently on Broadway.

March: Annual Saturday Morning Film Festival where we screen the films made at the Winter Film Camp in a real movie theater in the bay area.

April: Weekend Workshop with Casting Directors, Broadway Stars, or other amazing guests!

May: Cannes International Film Festival in France. Since 2016 we have taken groups of students to France for the Cannes International Film Festival with films we have made at the Winter Film Camp.

OTHER CAMP INFO: The Stephen J Wampler Foundation incorporated in October 2001, becoming a fully recognized tax-exempt non-profit 501(c) 3 organization in March of 2002 (Tax ID number #80-0470847). Our outdoor programs started in August of 2004 when we welcomed our first 24 campers. The organization has grown over the past 17 years, and we have sponsored 1250 children.

Camp Wamp, located near North Lake Tahoe in the High Sierras, is a place where kids with physical challenges have the week of their life in the great outdoors. The kids of Camp Wamp leave the experience having learned to face life with a new sense of self-reliance, ambition, optimism and adventure. What Can you Expect?
A typical day consists of breakfast, a morning workout, rest, lunch and speeches from the coaches followed by an afternoon workout and a group activity. You will learn visualization techniques, team-building skills and ways to maximize your performance through appropriate nutrition. 24-hour supervision is an important feature of every Nike Running Camp. CAMP FACILITIES: Campers sleep in cabins (or if they are really lucky teepees) with a staff member in each cabin or teepee. Cabins/teepees have six bunk beds and are solid wood structures with canvas flaps covering the windows and the door. Each tribe has a set of brand new bathrooms with individual restrooms and showers.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: For over 80 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco has been providing this creative, fun and supportive camping experience for youth ages eight to 18. We surround our kids with positive role models 24-hours a day to provide the love and encouragement they need to realize their full potential.

Located in a 2,000 acre beautiful redwood forest three and half hours north of San Francisco, Camp Mendocino offers programs that are clearly unique to those offered at our nine Clubhouses in San Francisco. Students explore the most scenic and beautiful places in a particular region, and travel between activity sites in brand-new, 15-passenger vans. CAMP FACILITIES: In both NYC and LA, campuses are accessible only with a valid AMDA photo identification card, which High School Summer Conservatory students receive.

Supervision is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. When students are not in class with our world-class faculty, they are supervised by members of our trained AMDA staff.

Students leave campus only for planned and chaperoned outings, which may include going to a Broadway show or visiting NYC and LA tourist destinations.

Nature Awareness:
Through focusing on nature awareness we encourage our students to experience what is happening around them, awakening curiosity and inspiration. We believe that learning skills of how to source our human lives from the abundant life around us grows respect; respect for the plants that heal our wounds, the sticks that give us warmth, and the creek that cools us. Regenerative Presence:
We use a variety of tools to inspire a regenerative presence on the planet. At Earth Path Education, we believe that the concept of regeneration is the key to a harmonious future here on Earth. We believe that as humans we can do more than not harm, we can actually feed all of creation with our beauty, our rituals, our songs, and our deep listening.

Village Building:
We hold necessary the role of the village in our Wilderness Rites of Passage ceremonies. It is the village that sends the initaites into their journeys, and the village that catches the initaites and witnesses the transformations. The rites of passage is also a key part to the health of the village, pumping all members with health, inspirations and vitality, bringing to the village the vision seeds that are to sprout us into a more harmonious way of relating.

Ceremonial Arts:
At Earth Path Education we are committed to the beauty way. We make earth offerings, and leave equsitie altars in the forest. We sings and dance, at each spring, we feed the fire with our stories and we compost our grief and our burdens, so that life can grow corn with it to feed the people. We pray for our lives, we pray for the earth. Our dreams bring us messages, and as we tune into our rhythms, and synch up with the rythms of the land. The earth starts to dream up through us, clarifying our purpose, calling us forward, and illuminating our gifts. Our ceremonies are an art of listening, to that wisdom which has been held in the earth and is just waiting to be danced up through us.

Permaculture:
Permaculture creates systems that provide for Human needs and the Earth’ s needs through mutually beneficial relationships. The health of our human community is linked to our local bioregion, which in turn is linked to the wellbeing of all ecosystems. We instill the ethics of Elemental Linking and Holistic Thinking. As every element becomes an integral part of the whole system, the whole community becomes more dynamic, harmonious, and energy efficient. These enhanced relationships reduce maintenance and stress, while increasing yields and happiness. These permaculture principles apply to our ecological relationship and our social relationships.

We instill the idea that work and play can be one in the same. We inspire youth and adults to follow the things that they are truly passionate about. We learn about the traditional Moon Lodge, a sacred space established to honor a woman’s moontime. Through implementing these ceremonial practices, we learn how we can create space to deeply explore the blessings of being a woman.

We experience ourselves through ceremony and through play! We learn ancestral crafts, games, stories, and songs as we root into our bio-region! As we camp and hike our amazing landscapes, we explore the ways in which we can sustain ourselves through our understanding of the natural world. We learn a variety of earth skills including how to make fire, wild edibles, permaculture, plant medicines, and much more.

We call upon elders in our community to share their wisdom; we bring in strong role models to teach a variety of skills, crafts, and classes. Together we form a web that nourishes the fertile soil that feeds our growth and expansion throughout life. This quest is a powerful and fun-filled experience for all, helping to create the beautiful, heart-centered women of our future!
